Biography

Dr. Manojit Layek is a Clinical Associate and Critical Care Physician with strong expertise in emergency medicine, trauma stabilization, and the management of critically ill patients. He specializes in Extra-Corporeal Life Support systems and plays a front-runner role in ECLS teams in Eastern India, handling ECMO, ECCO₂R, IABP, and other advanced circulatory supports. His clinical experience spans post-operative cardiac and thoracic transplant care, airway and ventilatory interventions, and renal replacement therapies. Dr. Layek has also taken on administrative responsibilities involving accreditation audits and infection control programs and is actively involved in training paramedical and nursing staff. He holds an M.B.B.S. and has completed fellowship training in ECMO sciences, with ongoing advanced critical care specialization.

1. CLINICAL ASSOCIATE Cardio-Pulmonary Critical Care & ECMO Services, Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals Ltd., Kolkata- March 2023 to Ongoing

  • Initiation & maintenance of over 40+ ECLS cases.
  • Post-operative care for 2 Lung Transplantation cases.
  • Management of more than 50 cases on CRRT, more than 300 cases on SLED / mHD.
  • Attending for a 36-bedded unit (22 ICU beds + 14 HDU beds)
  • Organizer for two Institutional Conferences of International acclaim – RESPICON 2023, ECMO INDIA 2025.
